Adding verse numbers to the Bible was done by Robert Estienne (Stephanus) in the 1550s and Isaac Nathan in the 1440s. These verses created helpful reference tools, but also introduced an interpretive problem; verse numbers often break up the scriptures in ways that the original authors never intended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reading the Bible without verse numbers is helpful for understanding continuous narrative flow and preventing out-of-context misinterpretation. We have eliminated verse numbers from the Bible and mantained only chapters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The only disadvantage of removing verse numbers is that it makes referencing more difficult. Our reference solution is to cite the book name, the chapter number and the Bible page (e.g <em>Genesis 1<\/em>, page 2 or <em>Luke 4<\/em>, page 6)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The books of the Bible did not originally have verse numbers.
